I have an interview in the morning with a radio show out of Boston. Should be a lot of fun.

Darn Surgeries

When I went to the Doctor, he said I had to have another surgery on my heart. The first thing I said was. "I'M too busy, is it ok if I have it after all of my book stuff."

He said, "When will that be over? I want you before the summer is over."

I promised to take my medicine religiously until then.

Authorpalooza

I just got back from the Authorpalooza. It is so much fun to meet new people. We all become fast friends in the author world.

Gerald and I had quite a long interview with Elizabeth Bernstien from the Wall Street Journal. It was so much fun and we both just loved her. She said she was going to do a story about my books close to when my new book comes out.

Phone Call

I got another phone call today. A lady said my book had absolutely revved up her marriage and said all of her five kids have read it or are reading it and they are all doing their part. She said my book was amazing and interesting to read and the chapter on kids was fantastic.

I get a tingle every time.

Study of Men and Housework

Recently a study came out that men who do housework get less sex. Wow do I have a counter attack to that.
If you do the right thing in the wrong way, it turns out to be a disaster.
That's why I have two whole chapters in my new book explaining why help is a dirty four letter word that isn't helpful at all.
When a man helps his wife with her chores, his well-intentioned efforts may end up turning him into a helpmate rather than an object of desire.
My book gives step by step ways husbands can pick responsibilities of their very own and still maintain their manliness. My ideas will greatly increase his trips to the bedroom.
I always say that anger and resentment on either side leads to less sex.

Wisdom

John Gottman writes, "A little known fact; being critical of your spouse greatly increases their chance of chronic illness."

Be ever patient with your spouse. Just because he or she thinks or acts different than you, doesn't mean you are right and they are wrong.

So be nice!

How to Survive Infidelity

 

First and foremost the following are situations where perhaps you shouldn’t even try to salvage a relationship where infidelity is involved;

·         If your husband is a serial cheater.

·         If there has ever been violence in the home.

·         If the cheating is blatant and he doesn’t try to hide it.

 

Now that we have that out of the way, why don’t we go ahead and save a few marriages?

 

Often, when women discover that their husbands are having an affair they get angry and kick him out. They go to the first Attorney they can find in the phone book and file for divorce. At that point they are so hurt and distraught that they can’t even think past the nose that’s sitting on their face.

 

So many men are basically, not only good people but fantastic fathers, but somewhere in the bottom half of their anatomy, something else becomes in charge.

 

THINGS TO CONTEMPLATE

 

Don’t jump the gun. Give yourself time to recover from the shock before you make life altering decisions. Find a friend that you can trust who will have your best interests at heart.  Confide in someone who knows all of the good qualities that your husband possesses.

·         A friend can remind you that he may be a keeper in the long run.

·         A friend can tell you the good parts of your marriage because in your post infidelity state you will be able to see no good in your marriage. That will come after you have kicked him out and you see him living with another women. Then it would be too late.

·         A friend will keep your confidence up so you can be strong enough to confidently insist on assurances so you will be protected just in case his belt ever came loose again.

·          

It is very important that you get therapy in the very beginning. The road back won’t be easy and you will need outside help.  What you might want to keep in mind is that a lot of couples go through this and they come out the other end better than ever. This is especially important if you have children. The fact that you will be forever connected to the children’s father whether you are with him or not plays a big role here.

We shouldn’t blame ourselves for our husbands cheating, but we shouldn’t automatically dump them for it when, sometimes our lack of effective communication is partly to blame. It would surely cut down on the odds of infidelity if the husband didn’t have double the free time his wife has. Balancing the householder work would change this dramatically. No longer would the man necessarily have a boring or uncooperative wife (one who is too tired to even think of having fun), or an angry and resentful wife who doesn’t have time to fix herself up. These are not attractive for anyone to come home to. This is especially important if you have children.

The fact that you will be forever connected to the children’s father whether you are with him or not plays a big role here.

TV Show

I did an interview on the TV show ETV channel 10 to be aired Wed. Jan. 16 at 11:05 and 6 PM. Amanda Holly is wonderful. The interview had two segments. One about my first book, I Almost Divorced my Husband but I Went on Strike Instead'. The second segment was about my second book 'Marriage 101 for Men--Why Taking out the Trash is a turn on'. The second book is on Amazon for pre-order right now and it will be on the shelves in May.

Going Forward

I got the new medicine yesterday and so far no side effects. Now to get on with my life.

Heart

I haven't been posting lately because I have been under the weather. I went to the Doctor the other day and he said that if the new medicine doesn't work he will have to do another heart surgery. I took the heart medicine and had a severe allergic reaction to it so I hope he has another one he can use. I don't relish having heart surgery again.
